Remember This
Hey Phil,
Do you remember this blog? Doesn't look like it was ever used by the committee. Too bad, it was put together quite nicely if I do say so myself.
This blog is designed to discuss the substance abuse prevention issues in Sheboygan County. Current members of the AODA committee are encouraged to leave comments on upcoming projects.
Hey Phil,
Last week I participated in an online training where the subject was Alcohol and Athletes. The main focus was college athletes that participate in binge drinking acitivites after games and how it affects their performance. The presentor stated that for every time drunk the athlete lost 14 days of training. I feel that this combine with what we know about the impact on brain development we could used it to educate our young athletes at the high school level. The presentator also stated a few obvious facts that we know such as the fact that colleges inherit the problem that has started in high school, that 63% of crminal acts involve freshmen under the influence of alcohol, and that athletes need to rehydrate after training and games--not binge drink. It was also mentioned that most people falsely associate the afffects of alcohol with being drunk and when they are no longer drunk they no longer suffer the affect.
